Cyber Crimes

Cyber Crime is now a regular occurrence around the world including high profile businesses (Medibank Private, Optus, Latitude, etc.), major companies (Binge, Dan Murphy’s, etc.), small businesses, and individuals.

Annually, the cost is $8 Trillion World-Wide.  The cost of cybercrime to businesses increased by 14% compared to the previous financial year.

In Australia, there were 94,000 reports made last year (up 23 per cent from previous year).

Cyber Attacks

Although malicious or criminal attack is responsible for initiating 58% of reported breaches, 95% of all cybersecurity issues can be traced to human error (World Economic Forum)

Whilst the company may have strong systems in place, you are extremely important when protecting against cyber attacks.

Many breaches and cybercrimes come from errors such as people forwarding a spam email they just received or clicking on links.  All employees must be aware of what they access online and take measures to be more cyber safe.
